Ingredients

  • 3 slices white or whole wheat bread
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 3 ounces sliced roasted turkey breast
  • 2 leaves romaine lettuce, torn
  • 2 slices ripe tomato
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • to taste salt and freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1

Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp, 6–8 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

  2. 2

Toast the bread slices until golden. Spread one side of each slice with mayonnaise.

  3. 3

Layer the first slice with the turkey, lettuce, and a tomato slice, then press the second slice on top, mayo-side down. Layer on the bacon, remaining lettuce, and tomato, and finish with the third slice, mayo-side down.

  4. 4

Hold the sandwich together with toothpicks, slice in half on the diagonal, and serve immediately.

Notes

Slice the tomato thin so the sandwich stays manageable, and season the tomato lightly with salt before stacking.

Swap the bacon for turkey bacon or skip it entirely for a lighter version.

Use a serrated knife to slice the sandwich cleanly without crushing it.
